CUSTECH Inaugurates Second Students’ Representative Council for 2025/2026 Session
The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has inaugurated the second Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for the 2025/2026 academic session, with Comrade Zulqarnain Abdullahi Ogirima installed as SRC President.
The inauguration ceremony brought together principal officers of the university, staff, and students to formally usher the newly elected council into office.
Speaking at the event, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Shauib Shehu, congratulated the SRC executives on the confidence reposed in them by the student body. He emphasized that their election comes with a responsibility to protect students’ interests while using the opportunity to develop leadership capacity and personal values.
The oath of office was administered by the institution’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Tayo Abigail Ojochide, marking the official commencement of the council’s tenure.
In his inaugural address, SRC President Comrade Zulqarnain Abdullahi Ogirima described the council as a platform for collaboration between students and university management. He pledged that the SRC would serve as a reliable bridge, promote transparency and accountability, and encourage active student participation in decision-making. According to him, the council belongs to the students and exists to ensure their voices are effectively represented.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Engr. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, expressed satisfaction with the quality of the student leaders, noting that they emerged from among the best academically. He assured the council of the full support of the university management and reminded them that leadership is a moral obligation that must be discharged with integrity.
Other university officials present at the ceremony included the Registrar, Mrs. Yakubu Glory Ojochogu; the Bursar, Mr. Emmanuel Ajayi Bello; and the University Librarian, Mrs. Helen Chris-Israel.
