CUSTECH Osara, Receives 700-Bed-Space Hostel Accommodation as Kogi Government Hands Over Sites to Contractors

The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has received another major infrastructural boost as the Kogi State Government officially handed over sites to contractors for the construction of a 350-bed-space male hostel and a 350-bed-space female hostel at the University's permanent site.

Performing the site handover on behalf of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo,today Monday 27th July, 2026, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, said the project forms the second phase of hostel accommodation for the University.

He explained that the State Government approved the project in response to the University's rapid growth in student enrolment and reiterated Governor Ododo's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for students. He urged the contractors to deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the hostels should truly become "a home away from home" for students.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, thanked Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for fulfilling his promise to provide additional accommodation facilities for the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the new hostels would improve students' welfare, strengthen campus security, and support effective management of the University's growing population. He also charged the contractors to maintain the highest standards of quality throughout the execution of the project.

The female hostel will be constructed by Musalib Construction Limited, while Qiblah Global Option Limited will execute the male hostel project.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Engr. Aliyu Taofeek appreciated the Kogi State Government for the confidence reposed in the companies and assured both the Government and the University of the timely delivery of quality and durable hostel facilities.

The ceremony was attended by the University's Bursar, Mr. Bello Emmanuel Ajayi; the Director of Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismail Adoke; the Dean of Student Affairs, Engr.Dr.Shehu Shaib.
