DELSU Approves 2026 Work-Study Aid Scheme to Support Indigent Undergraduates

The Management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has approved the implementation of the 2026 Work-Study Aid Scheme aimed at supporting indigent undergraduate students.

The initiative is an on-campus, part-time programme designed to provide financial assistance to students with genuine economic challenges, while allowing them to continue their academic pursuits without disruption. Beneficiaries of the scheme will earn a monthly allowance in exchange for rendering approved, non-hazardous support services across designated university units.

According to the University, the scheme is open to registered full-time DELSU undergraduates who demonstrate clear financial need and are in good academic standing. Applicants must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.40 and must not have any serious disciplinary record.

Priority consideration will be given to indigent students, those without existing scholarships, and students recommended by their respective departments or the Student Affairs Division.

Interested and qualified students are required to submit their applications to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) on or before Thursday, January 22, 2026.

The University clarified that successful applicants will receive a monthly-based allowance in line with institutional policy and not a full-time salary.
