The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, has appointed Dr. Hisham Aliyu Mohammed as Acting Provost with immediate effect.

The decision was announced following the suspension of the substantive Provost, Dr. Richard Ugbaha Utubaku, for three months pending an ongoing investigation into administrative matters and management of College assets.

According to Hon. Ahmed Abdullahi, Chairman of the 8th Governing Council, Dr. Mohammed’s appointment is aimed at ensuring continuity of leadership, stability, and smooth academic and administrative operations during the period of inquiry. He described Dr. Mohammed as a seasoned administrator and academic with a proven track record in educational management and institutional excellence, calling on staff and students to offer their full support.

The Chairman emphasized that the Council remains committed to fairness, transparency, and due process, with actions guided by the best interests of the College and Federal Government standards for accountability in public institutions.

Dr. Mohammed is expected to oversee daily operations, collaborate with management and staff unions, and maintain order within the College while the investigation continues. His appointment marks a new administrative phase focused on integrity, discipline, and efficient service delivery at the Federal College of Education, Obudu.
