Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the construction of a 500-bed hostel facility for the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

The Governor made the announcement during his campaign tour of wards in Iruekpen and Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial by-election. He stated that construction work would begin in the coming weeks.

Okpebholo recalled that one of his first actions in office was to increase AAU’s subvention to N500 million and constitute its governing council, pledges he said had been fulfilled.

The Governor also urged party members to remain committed, setting a target of 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign event was attended by APC leaders including State Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd); the Secretary to the State Government; and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Gani Audu.
