Edo State University Iyamho VC Highlights Milestones Ahead of 7th Convocation Ceremony
The Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Professor Victor O. Adetimirin, has outlined key institutional achievements during a press briefing held ahead of the university’s 7th Convocation Ceremony, as part of activities marking the Founder’s Day and Convocation Week.

The briefing provided a platform for engagement with media stakeholders and an update on the university’s growth trajectory, academic expansion, and research output.
Professor Adetimirin disclosed that the institution has expanded significantly from three faculties to nine, with more than 30 accredited academic programmes currently running. He also highlighted the establishment of the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, as a major milestone in strengthening the university’s medical and health sciences capacity.

He further announced that the university secured an international research grant valued at 5 million NOK for the Life on Metal Surfaces (LIMES) Project, a collaborative initiative involving partner institutions in Norway, Japan, and South Korea.
On graduation statistics, the Vice-Chancellor confirmed that a total of 850 students will be awarded degrees at the forthcoming convocation ceremony. This includes 693 undergraduate and 157 postgraduate students, with 72 graduating with First Class honours.
As part of its community engagement efforts, the university organized a free medical outreach at the Iyamho Community Health Centre, providing healthcare services to residents across different age groups.
Professor Adetimirin also noted ongoing investments in research funding, scholarships, and staff recruitment, describing these as strategic efforts aimed at improving teaching quality, strengthening infrastructure, and producing globally competitive graduates.
The 7th Convocation Ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Aliko Dangote Auditorium, Edo State University Iyamho.
