Edo Varsity Governing Council Pays Courtesy Visit to Government Officials, Introduces New VC

The Governing Council of Edo State University, Iyamho, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, and the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, at their respective offices in Benin City to formally present the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Olawale Adetimirin.

The Governing Council of Edo State University, Iyamho, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, and the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, at their respective offices in Benin City to formally present the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Olawale Adetimirin.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Olusegun O. Akinyinka, alongside other Council members, the Acting Chief Medical Director (Ag. CMD) of Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, and the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the Teaching Hospital, Auchi.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Kelly Quincy Amaechi, the Governing Council used the opportunity not only to introduce the Vice-Chancellor but also to reaffirm the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and improved healthcare delivery through its teaching hospital. He added that some of the institution’s challenges were presented, while emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration with the Edo State Government to advance education, healthcare, and community development.

Both Commissioners warmly welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and assured the delegation of the State Government’s readiness to support Edo State University, Iyamho, in fulfilling its mandate of producing globally competitive graduates while contributing to the health and wellbeing of the Edo people.
