Engr. Dr. Yetunde Aladeitan, FNSE, Assumes Office as 6th NIPetE Chairman

Distinguished scholar, accomplished Engineer and consummate administrator, Engr. Dr. Yetunde Aladeitan, FNSE, has assumed office as the 6th Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Petroleum Engineers, NIPetE.

Engr. Dr. Aladeitan took the oath of office on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Abuja, at a colourful and well-attended ceremony that brought together leading stakeholders from the oil and gas industry, academia, government and the engineering profession.

In his goodwill message, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, http://F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR, warmly congratulated Engr. Dr. Aladeitan on her assumption of office and commended her for her outstanding commitment to the engineering profession and particularly, to the advancement of NIPetE.

Represented at the occasion by the Deputy President of NSE, Engr. Valerie Ifueko Agberagba, FNSE, the NSE President noted that the responsibility of leading a professional Division is both demanding and strategic, requiring vision, commitment, integrity and the ability to inspire and mobilise members towards shared objectives. He urged the new Chairman to approach the assignment with a strong sense of purpose, while assuring her of the support and goodwill of the Society.

The NSE President also called on members of NIPetE to rally behind the new leadership, stressing that the strength and relevance of the Society depend largely on the vibrancy, professionalism and unity of its Divisions.

Addressing members, he said:

"Dear Colleagues, the Divisions are the intellectual heart of the Society and a gateway to professionalism and ethical practice. The strength of our Society lies in our collective commitment to excellence and our willingness to collaborate and support one another.

As Engr. Aladeitan assumes her new role, I urge all members to extend to her their full support and cooperation. Together, we can build on the solid foundation laid by her predecessors, deepen the impact of NIPetE and achieve new milestones in the advancement of petroleum engineering in Nigeria."

In her acceptance remarks, Engr. Dr. Aladeitan pledged to provide purposeful, inclusive and high-impact administration, assuring members that her leadership would place particular emphasis on strengthening their professional and technical capacity.

She expressed her determination to build on the achievements of previous administrations and create greater opportunities for professional development, knowledge exchange and meaningful engagement within the petroleum engineering community.

A major highlight of the occasion was the 2026 NIPetE Public Lecture, which brought into sharp focus the opportunities and challenges confronting Nigeria's petroleum industry.

The lecture was delivered by the Ag. Managing Director and Gas Asset Manager of Neconde Energy Limited, Engr. Chichi Emenike, FNSE, on the theme: "Asset, Talent and Integrity: Engineering Nigeria's 3 Million Barrels Per Day Target."

The lecture examined the critical role of engineering competence, human capital, asset optimisation and professional integrity in Nigeria's aspiration to increase crude oil production and strengthen the performance and sustainability of the nation's petroleum industry.

The Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of Seplat Energy Plc, Engr. Effiong U. Okon, FNSE, delivered the keynote address, further enriching the discourse with perspectives on the future of Nigeria's energy industry and the imperative for competent, innovative and ethical engineering leadership.
