Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan Inaugurates ₦5 Million Research Grant Committee
The inauguration of the College Research Fund Grant Committee took place today, Wednesday 28th January, 2026.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Provost, Dr. I. O. Lawal, who reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening its research culture and promoting academic excellence.
In his remarks, the Provost disclosed that the research grant is valued at ₦5 million, to be competitively accessed by departments. He emphasized that all research proposals submitted for ratification will be assessed strictly on merit, devoid of sentiment, and must demonstrate clear contributions to research advancement and academic development within the College.
The newly inaugurated committee is charged with the responsibility of screening research grant applications, ensuring compliance with established standards, and promoting competitive, merit-based research opportunities.
The seven-member committee is chaired by Prof. (Mrs.) J. A. Ugwu. Other members include Prof. (Mrs.) O. O. Akintola; Dr. (Mrs.) F. G. Adebawo; Dr.(Mrs.) O. R. Appah; Dr. (Mrs.) O. O. Akinola; Dr.I. O. Oyewo; and Dr. O. J. Aluko.
