Federal College Of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa Explores Partnership With Cosmopolitan University Abuja On Climate-Smart Agriculture Initiative

The Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa (FCHDK), has commenced strategic discussions with the Centre for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CCSA) at Cosmopolitan University Abuja to advance sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and digital innovation in Gombe State.

The proposal, presented during an official courtesy visit to the college, centers on establishing a six-month Climate-Smart Agriculture Internship Programme designed to engage 2,000 students in agricultural data collection, research, and ICT-driven field activities.Structuring the 2,000-Student Internship Framework.

The proposed initiative will systematically move through intern recruitment, specialized training, fieldwork, data analysis, and the active dissemination of findings to regional farmers and policymakers.

Professor Badaru emphasized that modernizing agricultural education through emerging technologies is critical to ensuring national food security. He highlighted a planned structural shift from traditional soil analysis methods to advanced, satellite-based data collection technologies.

This tripartite collaboration aims to foster knowledge exchange between FCHDK, Cosmopolitan University Abuja, and the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority.
