Federal Polytechnic Monguno SSANIP Hosts Emotional Send-Off, Honours Outgoing Rector with Award of Excellence

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), Federal Polytechnic Monguno Chapter, organized a special ceremony to honour the outgoing Rector, Engr. Prof. Garba Mohammed Ngala FNSE, FNIMechE, FSESN in recognition of his outstanding leadership and immense contributions to the growth and stability of the institution.

The ceremony, which was attended by members of the association and other staff of the Polytechnic, served as a moment of reflection on the achievements recorded during Prof. Ngala’s tenure. Speakers at the event described him as a visionary administrator, a mentor, and a father figure whose leadership positively impacted both staff and students.

Presenting the Award of Excellence on behalf of the association, the SSANIP Chairman, Cmrd. Alhaji Modu Kolo MCIA, commended Prof. Ngala for his inclusive leadership style, commitment to staff welfare and dedication to institutional development.

He noted that throughout his tenure, Prof. Ngala demonstrated fairness, humility and a strong sense of responsibility towards the advancement of the Polytechnic, qualities that endeared him to members of staff.

According to him, the association found it necessary to recognize the Rector’s outstanding service and unwavering support for staff development, describing him as a leader who always listened, guided, and encouraged staff members.

“You have our support wherever you go,” Cmrd. Alhaji Modu Kolo stated, adding that Prof. Ngala’s leadership has left a lasting legacy in the institution.

Members of the association further described him as “the Rector everyone is proud of,” noting that many staff members are emotional about his departure due to the strong bond, trust and mutual respect he built with the workforce.

They emphasized that his mentorship, administrative experience and commitment to excellence have greatly contributed to the peaceful working environment currently enjoyed within the Polytechnic community.

In his remarks, Prof. Ngala expressed deep appreciation to members of staff for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure.

“I am very glad to be associated with you. Federal Polytechnic Monguno is my family and I will always cherish the relationships and memories we have built together,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to appeal for understanding from members of staff.

“If in the course of my duties I have offended anyone, please find a place in your hearts to forgive me. Every decision taken was in the best interest of the institution,” he added.

He further thanked the staff unions and the entire Polytechnic community for their commitment to the progress of the institution, noting that the achievements recorded during his tenure were the result of collective effort, unity and dedication.

The outgoing Rector also encouraged staff to continue to work together in peace and harmony for the continued growth and development of the Polytechnic.
