Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny Hosts NELFUND Sensitization Program on Student Loans

The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, on Thursday, 22nd January 2026, hosted a robust sensitization program by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), aimed at educating students on the availability of financial support for tertiary education in Nigeria.

The program focused on increasing awareness of NELFUND’s interest-free student loan scheme, clarifying eligibility criteria, and guiding students step-by-step through the application process. Representatives of NELFUND emphasized the flexibility of repayment and highlighted how the loans could cover tuition, living expenses, and other essential educational needs.

Speaking on the initiative, the Polytechnic noted that financial constraints are a significant barrier to education, often resulting in stress, poor academic performance, or even dropout among students from low-income backgrounds. The sensitization session is part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to enhancing student welfare and ensuring that financial limitations do not impede access to quality education.
