The engagement followed a visit by the Community Relations and Sustainable Development Officer of NLNG, Dr. Yemi Adeyemi, and his delegation to the institution on April 27, 2026.

The visitors were received by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Victor Okolobah, alongside members of the institution’s management team.

According to officials of the Polytechnic, discussions during the visit focused on establishing long-term collaborations designed to improve educational outcomes, strengthen practical training, and better prepare students for industry realities.

Key areas explored during the engagement included internship and apprenticeship opportunities for students, curriculum development support through industry advisory participation, and specialised corporate training programmes for NLNG staff.

Management of the institution noted that the proposed collaboration could create direct pathways for hands-on experience and future employment opportunities for students, particularly within Nigeria’s oil, gas, and energy sectors.

The discussions also highlighted plans to involve industry experts from NLNG in curriculum review processes to ensure academic programmes remain aligned with evolving labour market demands and technological advancements.

In addition, both parties considered the possibility of customised upskilling and certification programmes tailored for corporate personnel as part of broader knowledge exchange initiatives.

As part of next steps, further engagements were proposed between the Polytechnic’s Governing Council and the top leadership of NLNG in Bonny to deepen discussions and outline areas of implementation.

The Polytechnic described the engagement as part of its broader vision to position the institution as a practical, industry-oriented centre for technical and professional education in Nigeria’s energy sector.
