UNIZIK Introduces Staff of the Year Awards, Winners to Receive ₦1 Million Each

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has approved the introduction of the institution’s first-ever Staff of the Year Awards aimed at recognising excellence and rewarding outstanding contributions within the university community.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has approved the introduction of the institution’s first-ever Staff of the Year Awards aimed at recognising excellence and rewarding outstanding contributions within the university community.

The initiative, described as the first of its kind in the history of the university, is expected to strengthen staff motivation, encourage professionalism, and promote a culture of dedication and exceptional service across both academic and administrative units.

According to the university management, the award scheme will recognise two outstanding staff members annually — one from the teaching category and one from the non-teaching category.

Each winner will receive a cash prize of ₦1 million in recognition of exemplary performance and commitment to the growth of the institution.

University officials stated that detailed guidelines, eligibility requirements, and voting procedures for the awards would be released in the coming days.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the current administration to improve staff welfare, institutional productivity, and internal recognition systems within the university.

Management also announced that sponsorship and partnership opportunities have been opened to interested organisations and individuals willing to support the initiative.

The university described the programme as a strategic step toward building a stronger and performance-driven institutional culture capable of advancing UNIZIK’s vision for academic and administrative excellence.
