St. Peter Claver’s Parish, Ukpor, on December 28, 2025, hosted a grand thanksgiving and honour ceremony in recognition of Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she was conferred with the prestigious title Adaejiejemba of St. Peter Claver’s Parish, Ukpor.
St. Peter Claver’s Parish, Ukpor, on December 28, 2025, hosted a grand thanksgiving and honour ceremony in recognition of Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she was conferred with the prestigious title Adaejiejemba of St. Peter Claver’s Parish, Ukpor.

The honour was bestowed in recognition of Dr. Awuzie’s elevation as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, following her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as her consistent commitment to service, leadership, and human capacity development.
The celebratory event attracted dignitaries from various sectors, including the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, members of the management and Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Oko, staff of the institution, as well as family members, friends, and well-wishers.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Parish Priest described Dr. Awuzie as an illustrious daughter and a shining light to the Ukpor community, noting that her appointment as Rector was a testament to her diligence, dedication, and years of impactful service. He emphasized that her achievements are worthy of celebration and serve as an inspiration to younger generations.

Dr. Awuzie, who hails from Ukpor by marriage, was honoured alongside two other distinguished daughters of the community noted for their contributions to human advancement. They are Very Rev. Sr. Dr. Obiageli Austine Terese Esotu and Chief Dr. Mrs. Uju Okechukwu.
In her remarks, Dr. Awuzie expressed deep gratitude to the parish for the honour and appreciation extended to her. She also acknowledged her fellow award recipients, commending their contributions to the development of society, and thanked all those who attended the celebration in solidarity.
Highlights of the event included a thanksgiving mass led by Dr. Awuzie and a fundraising session in support of ongoing parish projects, marking the occasion as both a celebration of achievement and a reaffirmation of community service.
