Federal Polytechnic Oko Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, Celebrates Dual Chieftaincy Honours in Grand Ceremony

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has been honoured with two prestigious chieftaincy titles in recognition of her contributions to education, human capacity development, and societal advancement.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has been honoured with two prestigious chieftaincy titles in recognition of her contributions to education, human capacity development, and societal advancement.

Dr. Awuzie was conferred with the title Nwayikaibeya I of Lude by the traditional ruler of Lude Ahiara Autonomous Community in Imo State, as well as Mmiri Doro Edo by the Joint Traditional Rulers Council of Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State. Both honours acknowledge her leadership impact and commitment to community and educational development.

The Rector marked the dual honours with a grand reception held on December 28, 2025, at the residence of Chief Fidelis Awuzie in Ukpor, Anambra State. The event attracted a wide array of dignitaries from across the education sector and public service.

Among those in attendance were the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe; the Head of Service of Anambra State, Barrister Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe; members of the Governing Council, management, and staff of the Federal Polytechnic Oko. Family members, friends, and well-wishers also graced the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe described Dr. Awuzie as a highly driven and success-oriented leader, referring to her as a sister and a woman of strong vision. She urged staff of the Federal Polytechnic Oko to give their full support and cooperation to the Rector in the interest of institutional progress and collective development.

The celebration featured vibrant performances by cultural troupes, adding colour and energy to the ceremony. Dr. Awuzie, visibly delighted, joined in the festivities with graceful dance displays that drew admiration from guests.

In her remarks, the Rector expressed profound gratitude to the traditional institutions for the honours bestowed on her and thanked all those who came to celebrate with her. She described the recognition as a call to greater service and prayed for God’s blessings and distinction upon all who supported and honoured her presence.

The event underscored Dr. Awuzie’s growing influence beyond academia and reaffirmed her role as a respected leader and advocate for educational and community development in Nigeria.
