Federal University Lokoja Mourns the Passing of Enesi Makoju

The Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has expressed its condolences to the family of late Engr. Joseph Oyeyani Makoju over the death of their son, Enesi Makoju, who passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 50.

 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi announced the sad news during the university's 90th regular Senate meeting, held on February 27, 2025. He described Enesi's death as a huge loss not only to the Makoju family but also to the university, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Professor Akinwumi commiserated with the deceased's immediate family, praying for God's comfort and fortitude for the mother, Dr. Gladys Adesuwa Makoju. He assured the family that the university administration shares in their grief and stands solidly behind them during this challenging time.

The university's gesture is particularly significant, given its earlier tribute to Enesi's father, the late industrial icon and philanthropist, Engineer Dr. Joseph Oyeyani Makoju. In April 2023, FUL instituted an annual memorial lecture in his honor to immortalize his contributions to Nigeria's industrial development .
