Federal University of Education, Zaria VC, Prof. Bunkure, Hosts Former University Classmates

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, received a delegation of his former schoolmates from the Faculties of Science, Medicine, Technology and Education (SCIEMET Class of ’91/’92/’93), Bayero University, Kano.

The delegation, led by Dr. Muh’d Jafar Na’Abba, visited to congratulate Prof. Bunkure on his recent appointment and to convey their collective goodwill. Dr. Na’Abba noted that the Vice-Chancellor brings extensive experience to his new role, highlighting the various leadership positions he has held across institutions—experience he described as vital to guiding the young University.

He added that the group was proud to identify with one of its own who has attained such a notable leadership position, describing Prof. Bunkure’s appointment as a source of pride for the SCIEMET family. The delegation expressed confidence that his tenure would introduce reforms to strengthen academic excellence, institutional innovation and sustainable development.

In his response, Prof. Bunkure expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the reunion with his former colleagues as uplifting. He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the University’s growth and consolidating its mandate of producing highly skilled educators equipped with modern pedagogical expertise.

He also emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, assuring that the University would continue to welcome collaborations that align with its core values and mission.
