FedPoly Damaturu Governing Council Confirms Dr. Lawan Cheri as Deputy Rector
The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, at its 6th Regular Meeting, has officially confirmed the appointment of Dr. Lawan Cheri as the Deputy Rector of the institution.
The confirmation follows his remarkable victory in the Academic Board election, where he emerged with a landslide win.
According to a letter signed by the Registrar, Muazu Aliyu Iliyasu, the appointment is for a four-year tenure effective from 27th November 2025. The letter further highlights that Dr. Cheri is expected to deploy his wealth of experience and administrative expertise toward advancing the institution to its next level of development.
The office became vacant following the appointment of the former Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Ibrahim Babale Gashua, as the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, Gombe State.
Profile of Dr. Lawan Cheri
Dr. Cheri, a Chief Lecturer, holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the Polytechnic in 2011 and has since served in several key positions. Notably, he was:

He is currently a visiting lecturer in the Department of Public Administration at both Federal University Gashua and Yobe State University, Damaturu.
