Reflecting on her journey, she remarked, ”It’s been a gruelling 8 years that ended with multiple academic distinctions, culminating into being the overall best-graduating student.”

A female student of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Oseremen ‘Molen, has made history by graduating as the best student in Dentistry after studying for 8 consecutive years in medical school at the University of Calabar in Nigeria.

Despite the typical academic timeline for the course being 6 years, Oseremen faced and overcame several challenges that extended her study period.

Oseremen earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University’s College of Medicine, demonstrating exceptional commitment and resilience throughout her extended study period. Her dedication paid off, as she not only completed her degree but also emerged as the overall best-graduating student, earning multiple distinctions.

In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Oseremen celebrated her accomplishment, sharing her induction into the prestigious Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). “On Monday, the 24th of June,” she announced, “I was inducted into the MDCN. Allow me to re-introduce myself: Dr. Claire Molen (MBBch Cal.).”

Reflecting on her journey, she remarked, ”It’s been a gruelling 8 years that ended with multiple academic distinctions, culminating into being the overall best-graduating student.” Oseremen was also honored to deliver the valedictory speech, highlighting her exceptional academic performance and dedication.

Despite not anticipating such a remarkable achievement, Oseremen emphasized the significance of consistency in achieving excellence. "I never dreamed of it. However, what has become pivotal to me from all this is the value of consistency in oiling the engine of excellence," she remarked.

Throughout her academic journey, Oseremen remained dedicated to serving her community in various roles, particularly in supporting mental health causes through organizations like Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI) and Antisuicide and Depression Squad (ASADS).
