FUD Matriculates 3,964 Students; Set to Launch Faculty of Law Next Session
The Federal University Dutse (FUD) officially concluded its 2025/2026 admission exercise today with the matriculation of 3,964 new students.
The ceremony, which marks the formal induction of the latest cohort, featured a significant announcement regarding the university’s academic expansion.
In his address, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, revealed that the university received a total of 9,611 applications for the session. Out of the 4,558 candidates offered admission, 3,964 successfully completed their registration. He noted that the university remained well within its National Universities Commission (NUC) approved quota of 5,583.
A major highlight of the event was the Vice-Chancellor’s update on the Faculty of Law. Professor Abdulkarim confirmed that the construction of the Law Faculty complex is now complete.
"God willing, students will be admitted into the Faculty next session," he stated, pending upcoming resource verification visits and final approval from the relevant regulatory bodies.
Charge to the Matriculants
Congratulating the "lucky few" who secured admission, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that matriculation signifies a "contractual agreement" with the institution. He urged the students to:
Prioritize Academic Discipline: Avoid vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, and drug abuse.
Adhere to University Regulations: Familiarize themselves with the Student Handbook and the university’s official dress code.
Use Proper Channels for Grievances: Direct complaints through the Student Union Government (SUG) or the Dean of Student Affairs rather than taking the law into their own hands.
Professor Abdulkarim concluded by noting that FUD has already graduated nine sets of alumni who are currently excelling globally, challenging the new students to maintain this legacy of excellence as they begin their academic journey.
