The Senate of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has appointed Professor Jacqueline Azumi Badaki as the first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) during its 97th meeting held on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.
In the same sitting, the Senate approved the redeployment of Professor Salihu Danlami Musa, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) with immediate effect.

The new appointments follow the expiration of the tenure of Professor Emmanuel Abdullahi Bala, who served in both capacities—first as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and later as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)—between November 2021 and November 2025. Professor Bala, a Professor of Geology and former Dean of the Faculty of Science, successfully completed his two consecutive two-year terms earlier this year.
Professor Badaki, a distinguished scholar and administrator, was nominated for the position during the meeting, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to occupy the office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) in the University’s history.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi congratulated both appointees and commended the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor for his outstanding service and commitment to the growth of the institution.
