The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) hosted the 2026 World Veterinary Day celebration, organised by the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association in collaboration with its Nasarawa State chapter.

Held at the University’s MIS Multipurpose Hall, the event gathered scholars, practitioners and stakeholders to discuss the theme, “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health.”

The National President of the association, Dr Moses Arokoyo, warned about rising zoonotic diseases, urging vigilance in food safety and environmental exposure.

The Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, emphasised integrating veterinary services into agricultural policy.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, reaffirmed FULafia’s commitment to veterinary research, while experts delivered lectures on food safety and One Health.
