FULafia Pledges Support for NUPEMCO Recapitalisation Drive
A national delegation of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), led by former ASUU President and former Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, has visited the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, to solicit support for the recapitalisation of the Nigerian University Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO).
The delegation, from the North-Central Zone of ASUU, included the Abuja Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Al-Amin A. Abdullahi, and former Kano Zone Coordinator, Comrade Mahoud Lawan and NUPEMCO Manager for Risk and Internal Control, Mrs. Cynthia Gayya.
The team was, formally, presented to Kida by the Chairman of the ASUU-FULafia Branch, Comrade Sunday Orinya.
Speaking during the visit, Ukachukwu appealed for the University's support to recapitalise NUPEMCO, describing the pension management company as a critical institution established to safeguard the retirement benefits of workers in Nigeria's tertiary education sector.

In his remarks, Kida thanked the delegation for the visit, assuring that the University would support NUPEMCO.
NUPEMCO is a pension fund management company licensed to, exclusively, manage the pensions of employees of Nigeria's tertiary institutions, including both public and private universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
