FULafia shines at NUSSA Games 2025, finishes 9th on medal table

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has proudly finished ninth at the just-concluded Nigerian University Staff Sports Association (NUSSA) Games, hosted by Bayero University Kano (BUK).
The games were started on May 21 and ended May 31, 2025.
Competing against staff teams from universities across the country, FULafia secured a total of five medals: two gold, one silver, and two bronze.
The University’s medal campaign was kick-started by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, who claimed gold in the vice-chancellor's race, setting a strong tone for the rest of the academic athletes.
Following his lead, Mimidoo Simeon delivered an outstanding performance by bagging two medals, winning a gold in the women’s 200m sprint, and bronze in women’s singles badminton.
In the scrabble event, Emmanuel Bassey's standout performance, secured silver for FULafia in scrabble singles after winning four out of his five matches.
The final medal came from Omini Chris, who earned a bronze medal in chess after five intense days of competition.
Omini finished third overall, capping off FULafia’s medal count in style.
