The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has emphasized the need for stakeholders to work together to transform the agricultural landscape in Nasarawa State.

Delivering a keynote paper at the 2025 World Foods Day celebration in Lafia, Abdul Rahman highlighted the state's rich agricultural potential, including crops such as rice, sesame, yams, and maize. However, he noted that challenges like post-harvest losses, limited mechanization, poor infrastructure, and climate change threaten productivity.

Abdul Rahman urged community leaders to champion sustainable land management, combat deforestation, and promote environmentally friendly practices. He emphasized the importance of building a "Nasarawa where our fields are fertile, our foods nourishing, our markets thriving, and our future secure."
