FUNAAB Receives NUC Approval for Reintroduction of Management Degree Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved the reintroduction of Management Degree Programmes at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), marking a major milestone in the institution’s academic expansion.

According to a statement by Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, the approved programmes include B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Banking and Finance, B.Sc. Business Administration, and B.Sc. Economics, alongside a newly introduced M.Sc. in Agroecology.

The approval follows a successful Resource Assessment Visit to the University by the NUC. It also signifies the restoration of programmes that were delisted during the 2017/2018 Academic Session following a Federal Government directive that restricted management-related courses in agricultural universities.

In 2021, the University Senate had renamed the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) to the College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies (COLENDS), aligning with FUNAAB’s broader mission of fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable development education.

With this latest NUC approval, FUNAAB is set to begin admissions into the reintroduced Management Degree Programmes under COLENDS for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, strengthening the University’s role as a hub for innovation, agribusiness, and management education.
