FUNAAB VC Commends Research Activities at TETFund-Sponsored Automated Greenhouse
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has commended the effective utilisation of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-sponsored automated greenhouse facility on the University’s campus, describing its operations as a demonstration of FUNAAB’s commitment to maximising research infrastructure for agricultural development.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has commended the effective utilisation of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-sponsored automated greenhouse facility on the University’s campus, describing its operations as a demonstration of FUNAAB’s commitment to maximising research infrastructure for agricultural development.
Prof. Kehinde made the commendation during a guided inspection tour of the facility, where he expressed satisfaction with the level of activities taking place and noted that the infrastructure was being put to productive use.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the automated greenhouse was provided by TETFund to FUNAAB to strengthen research and agricultural innovation.
He said the University had been utilising the facility for research and production activities, stressing that its effective use could position FUNAAB for additional support from TETFund to expand and further improve the facility.
“One is happy that this place is working and working very well. It is a facility given to us by TETFund, and what we are trying to do is to let TETFund know that we have been putting it to good use for the benefit of research, for researchers to use, and also for some production purposes,” he said.
Prof. Kehinde expressed optimism that the level of utilisation and productivity recorded at the facility would encourage TETFund to consider further interventions aimed at upgrading and expanding its capacity.
The Vice-Chancellor also commended the personnel responsible for managing the facility, particularly Prof. Isaac Ayelaagbe; Research Fellow, Dr. Abiodun Akinbule; Experimental Supervisor, Mr. Olakunle Majolagbe; as well as National Youth Service Corps members, Miss Mariam Popoola and Miss Islamiyyat Olasunkanmi.
He urged the team to sustain their dedication and ensure that the facility continues to serve as a productive platform for cutting-edge research, experimentation and agricultural production, in line with FUNAAB’s core mandate.
