FUOYE Holds Staff Workshop on Building a Global Academic Digital Footprint

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti, through the Directorate of Innovation and Digital Technology, successfully organized a Staff Workshop titled “Building a Global Academic Digital Footprint 2026”, aimed at enhancing faculty visibility, research impact, and international collaboration.

The workshop, hosted and facilitated by Prof. O.S. Ayanda, Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, brought together academic staff from various faculties to explore strategies for strengthening their global academic presence through digital scholarly platforms.

Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, the Dean of the Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Babatope Alabadan, commended the University leadership for supporting initiatives that enhance research visibility and institutional reputation. He noted that in the rapidly evolving global academic environment, scholars must leverage digital platforms to amplify the reach and impact of their research outputs.

Prof. Alabadan emphasized that building a strong digital academic footprint is essential for improving citations, fostering international collaborations, and positioning FUOYE among globally recognized institutions. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training and apply the knowledge gained to strengthen their academic profiles.

Earlier in his remarks, Prof. Ayanda appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their unwavering commitment to innovation and digital transformation. He noted that the workshop was designed to provide practical guidance on optimizing academic presence across major research and professional platforms.

Participants were taken through hands-on sessions on key scholarly platforms including ORCID, Scopus, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, LinkedIn, Academia.edu, and the FUOYE Staff Profile system, with emphasis on profile optimization, visibility, and research discoverability.

The atmosphere throughout the workshop was highly engaging, interactive, and collaborative, as participants actively asked questions, shared experiences, and received practical guidance on improving their academic digital presence.

The workshop reaffirmed FUOYE’s commitment to promoting research excellence, strengthening global academic engagement, and equipping its scholars with the digital tools required to thrive in the contemporary knowledge ecosystem.
