The FUOYE Innovation Hub today commenced LearnTech 2.0, a digital capacity-building programme focused on empowering participants with the skills required to design compelling PowerPoint presentations for effective communication using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

The training, which was specially organized for members of staff of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, featured practical sessions on creating engaging and professional presentations through the integration of AI-powered platforms.

Facilitated by Prof. Olushola S. Ayanda, the workshop explored the fundamentals of effective presentation design, the strengths and limitations of traditional PowerPoint presentations, and the growing role of AI in enhancing content development, creativity, and visual communication.

Participants were guided through hands-on exercises on brainstorming presentation topics, generating presentation content with ChatGPT, creating visually appealing slide decks using AI tools for structured presentation development. The sessions also highlighted best practices for delivering impactful presentations that effectively engage audiences.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof Joshua O. Ogunwole commended the initiative. He emphasized the commitment of the University to digital transformation and continuous capacity development for staff and students, noting that proficiency in emerging technologies and AI-driven tools is increasingly essential for academic excellence, research productivity, and effective service delivery in the modern university system.

The Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Sunday Adedini, who was present at the event, commended the FUOYE Innovation Hub for its sustained efforts in promoting innovation and digital capacity development within the University community. He described LearnTech 2.0 as a timely initiative that aligns with the evolving demands of higher education and the digital economy. Prof. Adedini encouraged participants to take full advantage of the knowledge and practical skills being shared, emphasizing that proficiency in AI-powered tools and digital communication platforms would enhance their academic, professional, and research endeavours.

The interactive nature of the workshop provided participants with the opportunity to gain practical experience and confidence in applying AI tools to real-world presentation and communication tasks.

The staff training marks the first phase of LearnTech 2.0 on Compelling PowerPoint Presentations. The programme will continue tomorrow, 3 June 2026, with dedicated sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, who will also be introduced to AI-powered tools and techniques for creating compelling presentations and enhancing their academic communication skills.
