The Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Prof. John Okeniyi, has charged Christian medical practitioners to uphold integrity, dignity, and empathy in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.
Prof. Okeniyi gave the charge while receiving the newly inaugurated executives of the Christian Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (CMDA), Doctors' Arm, OAUTHC Chapter, during a courtesy visit to the hospital management recently. The visit marked the first official engagement of the newly elected executives with the hospital management following their inauguration.
Speaking during the meeting, the CMD commended members of the association, particularly the newly elected executives, for their commitment to promoting Christian values within the medical profession.
Prof. Okeniyi urged members not to compromise their values, stressing that privilege comes with greater responsibility.
"To whom much is given, much is expected," he stated, while encouraging the young executives not to allow their age to limit their capacity to make meaningful contributions within the association and the healthcare system.

He further advised the executives to make dignity a guiding principle in their personal and professional lives, emphasizing the importance of truthfulness and godly character.
Earlier, the General Secretary of the association, Dr. Adekunle Egbewole, explained that CMDA was established with the vision of promoting holistic care by addressing the spirit, soul, and body of individuals.
Dr. Egbewole also appealed for the continued support and cooperation of the hospital management in helping the association achieve its objectives and carry out its activities effectively.
Among members of the hospital management present at the meeting were the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof. Josephine Eziyi; the Physician-in-Charge (PIC), Phase II, Dr. Adeleye Omisore; and the Physician-in-Charge (PIC), Phase III, Prof. Olufemi Oyetola.
The Christian Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (CMDA), a body with over four decades of existence, is committed to promoting excellence in healthcare practice while upholding Christian principles among medical and dental professionals across the country.
