The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has been selected as one of three federal universities to benefit from a N3 billion technology and innovation investment by aimed at developing digital skills, entrepreneurship, and technology talent among Nigerian students.
The initiative will establish Moniepoint Innovation Hubs in selected universities over the next three years, creating dedicated centres for technology training, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Alongside UNN, the other beneficiary institutions are Obafemi Awolowo University and Ahmadu Bello University.
The programme was formally unveiled on Monday at Obafemi Awolowo University, where Moniepoint explained that the institutions were chosen to ensure equitable access to innovation opportunities across Nigeria's major geographical regions.

According to Moniepoint, the innovation hubs will function as permanent technology and entrepreneurship centres accessible to students from all academic disciplines. The facilities will offer practical training in software engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, product development, design, and entrepreneurship.
The company stated that the programme will adopt a cohort-based learning model, combining mentorship, hands-on project development, and industry-focused training to equip students with skills needed in the rapidly evolving global digital economy.
UNN's inclusion in the initiative is being viewed as a significant endorsement of the university's growing reputation in research, innovation, and human capital development. The institution currently hosts a science park that has supported the growth of several technology start-ups and innovation-driven enterprises.
Speaking at the launch, Tosin Eniolorunda said the project was designed to create a sustainable pipeline of industry-ready technology professionals capable of contributing to Nigeria's digital transformation and economic growth.
He also revealed that Moniepoint intends to extend the innovation hub programme to additional tertiary institutions across the country in the future.
