LASU Gets New Vice-Chancellor as Sanwo-Olu Appoints Professor Ayodeji Badejo
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Olawumi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu appoints Professor Ayodeji Badejo as LASU’s new Vice-Chancellor following the completion of Olatunji-Bello’s tenure.
The appointment, announced on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, marks a change in leadership at the institution following the completion of Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello’s five-year tenure.
Badejo, a professor of Guidance and Counselling, holds a doctorate and a Master of Education degree in the same field from the University of Lagos.
She assumes leadership of the university after an administration that reported significant growth in revenue, accreditation and digitalisation.

Olatunji-Bello, who took office in September 2021, said at her final convocation address that LASU achieved a 96 per cent success rate in its first-year accreditation exercise, with 31 of the 37 programmes presented receiving full accreditation.
She also disclosed that the university’s internally generated revenue rose from N3 billion to N13 billion during her tenure.
The outgoing vice-chancellor described her administration as one that strengthened the university’s position in digital education and increased its attractiveness to prospective students.

Badejo will therefore inherit an institution coming out of a five-year administration that placed emphasis on accreditation, revenue generation and digital transformation.
Her appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of leadership at LASU as the university continues to consolidate its academic and institutional development.
