The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) hosted accreditation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) between 26th October and 1st December 2025, as part of the statutory annual review of academic programs and institutional facilities.

A total of ten accreditation teams visited departments across multiple schools, including Computer Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Building, Remote Sensing and Geoscience Informatics, Nutrition and Dietetics, Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Medicine and Surgery.
The visiting teams commended FUTA for maintaining high academic standards, providing spacious classrooms and lecture halls, and equipping departments with adequate teaching and research facilities. The institution’s sustained excellence reinforced its reputation as Nigeria’s leading University of Technology.
In response, Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji described accreditation as a vital peer-review process for ensuring the global relevance of Nigerian universities. She emphasized FUTA’s commitment to transparency and continuous improvement, assuring the teams that identified gaps would be addressed promptly.

Professor Oluseyi Awodele, Director of Academic Planning, which coordinated the exercise, noted that accreditation is an opportunity for institutional learning and collaboration, not a punitive process. He expressed gratitude to the University management for providing all necessary support to facilitate a smooth and successful review.
