A 200-level Microbiology student of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Tony-Irein Irene Izegbeghoya, has emerged as the Best Female Adjudicator of 2025 following a standout year on the West African and Nigerian debating circuit.

A 200-level Microbiology student of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Tony-Irein Irene Izegbeghoya, has emerged as the Best Female Adjudicator of 2025 following a standout year on the West African and Nigerian debating circuit.

Her recognition follows a series of high-level adjudication roles across major British Parliamentary (BP) tournaments in 2025, where she consistently occupied top judging positions in some of the most competitive rounds on the continent.

In the course of the year, Tony-Irein Irene Izegbeghoya adjudicated at nine major tournaments, including the West African Universities Debating Championships (WAUDC) 2025, where she served as Preliminary Rounds Chair and Open Semi-Finals Judge, and the All Nigeria Universities Debating Championship (ANUDC) 2025, where she held similar senior adjudication roles and was awarded Best Novice Judge.

She also presided over grand final rounds at several high-profile competitions, including the Royal Rhetorics Anniversary Cup (RRAC), TOA Varsities, Rivers State University Opens, and Uganda-Easters 2025, where she served as Preliminary Rounds Chair and Open Grand Finals Judge. Her adjudication portfolio was further strengthened with a Quarter Finals Chair role at Winter Wars Debate Opens.

Beyond competitive debating, she is described as a student with strong analytical depth, combining her academic training in Microbiology with a disciplined approach to argument evaluation and decision-making. Her judging style is noted for precision, structure, and strict adherence to argumentation standards rather than sentiment.
