The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has issued a strong warning to the public, particularly students and parents, over fraudulent claims of inter-university transfers into departments within the institution.
According to the University, some individuals are spreading false information on social media platforms, asking unsuspecting victims to pay huge sums of money into private accounts for supposed transfer opportunities. FUTA emphasized that such claims are completely false, describing them as a “bogus scam.”
In an official statement, the University stressed that it has not requested any payments for transfers into private accounts and does not authorize such activities. “All matters relating to transfer and admission are transparently handled, and information should only be sourced from the University’s authorized platforms,” the statement read.

The institution further advised that all payments connected to transfers or other official transactions must be processed strictly through the authentic University account using the Remita platform. It urged students, parents, and the general public to disregard any solicitation for money outside these official channels.
FUTA reiterated its commitment to transparency in all admission and transfer processes, warning that anyone who engages with fraudsters does so at their own risk.
The University management assured that it will continue to protect its integrity and the interests of its students while maintaining due process in all academic and administrative matters.
