FUTES-Iyin Holds Maiden Quality Assurance Workshop for Academic Staff

The essence of establishing a university is not only to award degrees but to produce quality graduates, advance knowledge through research, drive innovation, and contribute meaningfully to societal development. Achieving these goals, however, requires a strong commitment to quality assurance at every level of institutional operations.

In line with this commitment, the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN), held its Maiden Quality Assurance Workshop yesterday, put together by the University’s Quality Assurance Committee for academic staff members.

This, again, reaffirms the University’s commitment to building a world-class institution founded on excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and global best practices.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, ably represented by the Director of Special Duties, Prof. Olumide Ogundipe, delivered a presentation titled "Aligning FUTES with the Vision of a World-Class University (University of My Dream) Through Quality Assurance Practices."

Professor Aribisala emphasized that quality assurance remains the cornerstone of any serious effort to build a globally competitive university. He noted that excellence is sustained not only through quality staff and students but also through effective systems and processes that ensure standards are maintained.

The workshop also featured insightful presentations by the Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Professor Emmanuel Akintayo and a resource person from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Ola Salawu. Their presentations centered on aligning academic programmes with the University's vision, NUC standards, and global quality assurance requirements, as well as strategies for institutionalizing a robust internal quality assurance framework that promotes accountability, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
