FUTH Lafia Radiology Unit Affirms Commitment to Quality Amid High Patient Volume

The Radiology Department of the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH), Lafia, has reaffirmed its dedication to providing professional diagnostic imaging services despite a significant surge in patient demand.

As a core unit within the hospital’s diagnostic chain, the department continues to offer a wide range of specialized services, including X-rays, Ultrasound scans, and advanced radiological examinations such as HSG, MCG, SCG, and Cytography.

According to the Assistant Manager of the DNA Laboratory, Abubakar Sadiq, the unit currently manages a high daily turnout, attending to an average of 35 ultrasound patients and 15 X-ray patients every day. Despite occasional overcrowding, staff members have maintained a high level of professionalism to ensure patients are processed efficiently.

The Head of Department, Dr. Ejike Akunna, explained that the unit operates strictly on a "first-come, first-served" basis to ensure fairness, though immediate priority is always given to emergency cases.

Capacity Building: Management is actively working to expand the department’s capacity to further reduce waiting times to the barest minimum.
