FUTIA Bolsters Campus Infrastructure with 40-Unit Desk Donation from Philanthropist Dr. Etebong Umana

The Federal University of Technology lkot Abasi (FUTIA) has taken delivery of 40 units of Wooden Students’s Desk donated to the Institution by a public-spirited citizen, Dr Etebong Attah Umana

Speaking on behalf of the University while receiving the items, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Leo Daniel lauded Dr Umana for the kind gesture to the University and pledged the Institution’s commitment to make good use of the facility.

The Academic Don while commending the donor for his philanthropic initiative used the occasion to call on other individuals (within and outside the host communities), Captains of Industries, Corporate Organizations, International Oil Companies (IOCs) among others to emulate the kind gesture of Dr Umana stressing that the contributions of critical stakeholders are needed in the advancement of academic excellence.

In her vote of thanks on behalf of Management, the Registrar of the University, Offiongita Nkang (Mrs) expressed appreciation to Dr Umana for his thoughtful donation to the University in demonstration of his active citizenry. 

Earlier in his speech, the donor who is also an educationist said he was inspired as a promoter of academic excellence by the fact that the University is relatively new and would have need for numerous infrastructure including the Students’ Desks on campus. He added that the donation is part of his strategic and counterpart contributions to boosting infrastructural needs of the University.

High point of the meeting was the formal presentation of the 40 Units of the Students’ Desk by the Donor to the University Management.

The University Librarian, Prof. Philip Akor was also in attendance to witness the presentation.
