FUTIA Vice-Chancellor Bags Excellence in Leadership Award at UNIUYO National Conference

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has been conferred with an “Award for Excellence in Leadership” by the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo (UNIUYO).

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has been conferred with an “Award for Excellence in Leadership” by the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo (UNIUYO).

The honour was presented during the 12th Annual National Conference on Education, themed “Bridging Educational Gaps through Digital Technology,” held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Onyema Ugochukwu Auditorium, UNIUYO Town Campus, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Faculty, the award recognises Professor Daniel’s exceptional leadership and contributions to the growth of the university system and education in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, and beyond.

The presentation was made by the Chairman, Committee of Deans, UNIUYO, Professor Dianabasi Eduwem, on behalf of the Faculty.

Represented by the University Librarian, Professor Philip Akor, the FUTIA Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Dean, Faculty of Education, and the National Conference Planning Committee for finding him worthy of the recognition.

Professor Leo Daniel, Nigeria’s first Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, reaffirmed his commitment — and that of FUTIA — to promoting academic excellence, innovation, and technological advancement for community and national development.

The event, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of UNIUYO, Professor Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo, featured a keynote address, lead paper presentation, and the unveiling of the 2025 Faculty Journal.

The conference attracted distinguished scholars, researchers, and education stakeholders from within and outside the University community.
