FUTMinna VC Prof. Kuta Performs Groundbreaking for N540m Medical Administrative Block

In furtherance of efforts to ensure the provision of befitting physical structures for the College of Medical Sciences and Health Technology of the Federal University of Technology, Minna , the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta today performed the groundbreaking ceremony for an administrative block for the college at the Main Campus.

Prof. Kuta, in his remarks at the ceremony, emphasised that the project is part of the infrastructure requirements of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the University's medical programmes, which have already commenced in earnest in the University.

He disclosed that the contract for the building, which will cost N540 million is funded by the by the Federal Government through the Needs Assessment intervention, adding that the University has already secured approval for the second phase of the project expected to follow soon.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Federal Government for its continued support and stabilising the academic environment in the country's institutions of learning.

He also expressed confidence in the capacity of the project contractor, Oomef Limited, thanking its Managing Director, Engr. Emmanuel Obaitan for engaging students in the University in various aspects of the project execution, including paid labour.

Earlier, the Acting Director, Physical Planning and Development Unit, QS Aishatu Mohammed in her opening remarks, explained that the building meant to provide a modern and functional environment for the coordination of academic and administrative activities within the college consists of the provost's office, conference rooms, dean of School of Pharmacy's office, provost's secretary's office, a seminar room, a boardroom, two classrooms, a server room and a panel room.

She said the project, a 32-week completion period, will also enhance service delivery and create a conducive environment for staff, students and stakeholders of the medical college.

She prayed for its timely and successful completion.

The brief ceremony was witnessed by Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, members of staff and students.
