Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI) has set a bold new direction, focusing on problem-solving, student welfare, and competitive academic engagement, as announced by Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke during the first Common Midday Prayer for 2026 at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Thinkers Corner Campus, Enugu.

In his address, Prof. Anieke emphasized a paradigm shift from traditional credential-focused education to practical solution-driven learning. “The world has moved beyond certificates; success is now defined by one’s ability to solve real-life problems. GOUNI is positioning its students to excel academically while developing critical life skills,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted commitments to enhanced staff welfare, improved campus infrastructure to facilitate student relocation, and the commissioning of the DNA Learning Centre, the largest in Africa, later this year to address paternity and forensic-related issues.

In line with directives from the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, GOUNI has approved the establishment of a Safeguarding Committee to ensure a safe campus environment free from intimidation, abuse, or victimization. Lady Jane Ndukwe, Director of Student Mentorship and Parent Relations, confirmed that the committee’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for 27 January 2026.
