Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI) hosted the 2026 edition of the Godfrey Okoye Computer Competency Program (GCCP) Seminar at the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium, drawing final-year students eager to gain future-focused digital skills.

The seminar was represented by University Librarian Dr. Mrs. Julianna Iwu James (Associate Professor) on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, and ICT Manager Mr. Azike Lucky, standing in for the Director of ICT, Mr. Chibuzo Anthony Chinedu.

In her remarks, Dr. Iwu James urged students to seize the opportunity offered by GCCP, describing the program as a key competitive advantage and one of the few comprehensive digital competency initiatives available in Nigerian universities.

Mr. Lucky reinforced the importance of the seminar, highlighting its relevance to graduation requirements and the long-term value of acquiring digital and AI-related skills that will remain vital beyond university life.

The seminar’s highlight was the presentation by Digital Skills and E-Learning Manager, Mr. David Attamah, who unveiled the rebranded GCCP, now aligned with the Internet and Computing Core Certification Global Standard Six (IC3 GS6) and inclusive of AI Literacy. Mr. Attamah stressed that rapid technological change requires a strong foundation, warning that students risk falling behind without adequate digital skills.

The revamped GCCP aims to bridge the digital and AI divide among GOUNI students, ensuring graduates are academically proficient, digitally competent, and globally competitive.
