Governor Mai Mala Buni Sponsors 148 Yobe Indigenes for Nigerian Law School

The Yobe State Government has once again demonstrated its commitment to human capital development as Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the sponsorship of 148 state indigenes admitted into the 2026 academic session of the Nigerian Law School. 

At a high-profile scholarship disbursement ceremony organized by the Yobe State Scholarships Board, each beneficiary received a comprehensive support package designed to ease the financial rigours of legal training. 

The 2026 Support Package

To ensure the students are well-equipped for their professional studies, the state government provided:

Financial Grant: A direct disbursement of ₦475,000 to each of the 148 new students.

Technological Support: A brand-new laptop for every beneficiary to facilitate research and digital learning.

Support for Resit Candidates: In a gesture of inclusive support, 11 candidates retaking their Bar examinations were also granted financial assistance. 

A Legacy of Educational Funding

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Professor Kagu Abubakar, noted that this latest intervention brings the total number of law graduates sponsored by the Buni administration to 719 since 2020.

Professor Abubakar was commended during the ceremony for his transparent leadership and dedication to ensuring that the Governor’s "Education First" agenda reaches the most deserving students in the state. 

Building Yobe’s Legal Future

Addressing the beneficiaries, officials urged the prospective lawyers to remain focused and maintain the highest ethical standards. The investment is strategically aimed at building a robust legal workforce capable of contributing to the state and national judiciary in the coming years.
