Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the immediate implementation of a reviewed remuneration package for academic staff of the University of Ilesa (UNILESA), in a move aimed at strengthening staff welfare and boosting the state’s education sector.

The new salary structure mirrors the package earlier approved for Osun State University, Osogbo, signaling a harmonised welfare framework across state-owned tertiary institutions.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated May 29, 2026, referenced NEBS/UNILESA/VOL.2/033, and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. M.A.K. Jimoh.

According to the state government, the review is designed to improve staff motivation, reduce brain drain, and enhance the university’s capacity to attract highly qualified, world-class academics.

The development was also confirmed in a statement issued by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Corporate Services and Information Unit, Babatunde Fanawopo.

Reacting to the approval, the Vice-Chancellor of UNILESA, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, commended Governor Adeleke for his consistent investment in education and staff welfare.

He said the gesture would significantly boost morale among academic staff and further strengthen dedication to teaching, research, and community service.

According to him, the support aligns with the university’s long-term vision of becoming a leading centre of academic excellence.
