President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to increase pressure on his ministers to terminate the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities strike by Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Orji Kalu (ASUU) monitoredbymyschoolnews.ng.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Mr. Kalu also urged ASUU members to make it easy to negotiate with the Nigerian government so that students could resume their academic pursuits.
Many students from his district have been absent from school as a result of the ongoing ASUU strike, according to the former governor of Abia State who now represents Abia North District in the Nigerian Senate.

The senator said that while serving as governor of Abia State, he never permitted the closure of any state schools due to a strike.
If all parties were committed to it, he argued, negotiation is the key to ending the industrial action.
"I think the federal government and ASUU can put an end to this strike right now. A nation cannot be saved by education alone. The politician said that it was worse than feeling insecure," he said.
Following a two-day statewide strike by workers, organized under the auspices of the Nigeria Labour Congress, over the ongoing closure of public colleges, Mr. Kalu made his statement just hours later
