Augustine University, Ilara-Epe (AUI), has commenced its 2026 Staff Work Enrichment Workshop, focusing on professionalism, ethical conduct, service excellence and the collective responsibility of staff in advancing the university’s vision and strategic direction.

The two-day workshop, themed “Building the AUI of Tomorrow through Consolidation and Transformation,” began on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, bringing members of staff together for learning, reflection, interaction and professional development.

In her opening remarks, the Registrar highlighted the ideals and identity of Augustine University, including its motto and the values expected of every member of staff. She also introduced members of staff and stressed the importance of understanding and upholding the university’s identity and standards.

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. A. Akinwale, noted the importance of the orientation, describing it as an opportunity for staff members to gain a better understanding of their roles, responsibilities and contributions to the growth and development of the university.

The first substantive session, titled “The AUI Vision, Mission and Strategic Direction: The Role of Every Staff Member,” was facilitated by the Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee, Prof. Roseangela Nwuba.

Prof. Grace Evbuomwan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Management Sciences, facilitated a session titled “Excellence with Character: Professionalism, Ethics and the AUI Standard,” while the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Toyin Dibosa, led a session on “Professionalism and Excellence in Administrative Service Delivery.”

Participants also attended a session on “Service Excellence: Student-Centredness and Effective Service Delivery,” facilitated by Prof. Philip Edema, Head of the Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies.

This was followed by “Beyond the Resume: Understanding Workplace Behavior and Communication Styles,” facilitated by the University Counsellor, Rev. Sr. Josephine Tiav, SSL.

During the afternoon session, the Director of Works and Services, Engr. Tunde Bello, delivered a presentation on accountability, stewardship and the responsible management of university resources. He emphasised the need for prudent and responsible use of institutional resources.

The first day of the workshop provided staff members with opportunities for professional reflection and engagement on the university’s strategic direction, professionalism, ethics, student-centred service delivery, workplace communication and responsible stewardship.

The 2026 Staff Work Enrichment Workshop continues on Wednesday, September 30, with sessions covering digital transformation and technology-driven university operations, quality assurance and accreditation readiness, academic excellence, artificial intelligence and research ethics, institutional visibility and reputation, staff health and wellbeing, security awareness and personal safety, among other areas.
