Ogun Education Ministry Delegation Visits OGITECH to Assess Needs, Institutional Progress

The Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, Dr Abiodun Oluseye, received senior officials from the Department of Tertiary Education, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, during an official visit to the institution on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, Dr Abiodun Oluseye, received senior officials from the Department of Tertiary Education, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, during an official visit to the institution on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The visit was part of a state-wide initiative aimed at familiarising the newly established Department of Tertiary Education with higher institutions across Ogun State and gathering comprehensive operational data on their activities, needs and challenges.

The exercise is expected to enable the state government to better understand and respond to the pressing needs and structural challenges confronting tertiary institutions across the state.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr Oluseye noted that the visit was the first official engagement by the Ministry’s Tertiary Education Unit with OGITECH since he assumed office as Rector in August 2023.

The Rector expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his commitment to the development of the state’s education sector.

He also commended the Governor for appointing Professor Abayomi Arigbabu as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, describing him as a “round peg in a round hole” and noting the impact of his administration on education across the state.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, the Director of Tertiary Education, Mr Christopher Taiwo Adebayo, said the exercise was designed to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry and OGITECH.

He identified the key areas of focus as aligning institutional goals with government objectives, recognising outstanding student achievements, assessing institutional core values, evaluating staff capacity and identifying operational challenges affecting the institution.

During the visit, the delegation inspected several ongoing construction projects across the OGITECH campus and reviewed some of the milestones recently achieved by the institution.

In his presentation to the visiting officials, Dr Oluseye identified unstable electricity supply as one of the major operational challenges confronting the institution, noting that the situation has resulted in significant expenditure on fuel for generators.

Despite the challenges, the Rector highlighted several achievements recorded under his leadership, including the introduction of new academic programmes, construction of additional classrooms and laboratories, and the implementation of comprehensive staff training programmes aimed at improving overall academic performance.

The delegation was received alongside other principal officers of the institution, including the Acting Registrar, Dr Sakirat Olajumoke Johnson; the Bursar, Mr Abdulsalam Yunus Ololade; as well as Deans and Directors of the institution.
