Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Appoints Prof. Sulaiman Mohammed Hadi As New VC

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has appointed a new Vice Chancellor, Professor Sulaiman Mohammed Hadi. The Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, approved the appointment, which takes effect from Monday, February 17, 2025 .

Professor Hadi, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Veterinary Anatomy, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, emerged as the top candidate after a rigorous selection process. His selection was based on merit, academic excellence, leadership qualities, and outstanding performance during the screening process conducted by the Governing Council .

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, highlighted that Professor Hadi's appointment is expected to bring his wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in the discharge of his responsibilities. The new Vice Chancellor is expected to implement policies that will position IBB University as a center for affordable quality education and innovative research, attracting scholars and fostering academic excellence .

Professor Hadi's appointment follows the suspension of the former Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, in October 2024, over allegations of insubordination and disobedience to constituted authority. In the interim, Professor Hassan Ibrahim served as the Acting Vice Chancellor .
