The 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo, FCASSON, FAPROCON, MNAE, has called for the commitment of members of the university community to her administration's vision and strategic agenda.
Prof. Badejo made the call during familiarisation visits to the university's faculties and schools on Tuesday, October 20, and Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
The visit took the Vice-Chancellor to the Faculties of Science, Law, Arts, Education, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, and Communication and Media Studies; the Postgraduate School; the School of Library, Archival and Information Science; the School of Tourism, Creativity and Cultural Arts; and the LASU Innovation Hub.
During the engagements, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of collective responsibility, teamwork and effective communication in advancing the university's goals. She encouraged staff to contribute actively to the institution's growth and align their activities with the administration's development priorities.
Prof. Badejo also presented the eight strategic pillars that will guide her administration, namely: academic excellence and quality assurance; research, innovation and global visibility; financial sustainability and resource mobilisation; infrastructure and digital transformation; staff welfare and industrial harmony; student welfare, mentorship and employability; governance, integrity and institutional visibility; and community engagement and societal impact.

She explained that the pillars would provide strategic direction for the various units and promote a coordinated approach to achieving the administration's vision.
The visits afforded the Vice-Chancellor the opportunity to interact with leadership and staff of the respective faculties and schools, and to gain first-hand insight into their challenges and developmental needs.
The engagements underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between the university's central administration and its constituent units in promoting academic excellence, research, innovation and efficient service delivery.
The visits form part of Prof. Badejo's efforts to deepen stakeholder engagement, foster an inclusive, open-door policy, and establish a shared sense of purpose in advancing the growth and development of Lagos State University.
